After a bit of discussion, we decided that the best thing for Lucy is to take her eggs, get her a boyfriend and they can live happily ever after.
Amazingly, that night I see a post from a lady wanting a forever home for her Gander and Duck. Perfect! So Ryan (apparently named after Ryan Gosling) and Frankie the duck arrive either Sunday or Tuesday and we are all excited.
So today we did the deed and too Lucy's eggs. It was sad but we don't want her to get sick by sitting on them and not eating and she can have some little Lucys soon if her and Ryan get on. :)
There were 8 eggs in the nest and they are massive! Not only massive but heavy! That would have been a big load for her to carry around.
Here they are in a pot with a chook egg so you can see the difference in size.
We have not decided what to do with them yet. Apparently 1 goose egg = 3 chook eggs in a recipe. They are good for brownies and scrambled eggs and are a lot stronger tasting.
I thoughts having chickens would be great and getting fresh eggs would be wonderful but I am having trouble facing eating them knowing where they came from and the nest was so beautiful! So we shall see how I go.
Lucy is wandering around the paddock eating and drinking and seems to be doing ok so lets hope that keeps going.
